A System Biologist deploying “Genome-to-Phenome, and "Network-Biology" approaches for the biomanufacturing of next–generation industrially relevant biomolecules through the sequestration of unconventional carbon feedstock. My research focuses on an in-depth understanding of molecular interactions controlling microbial sensing, communication, and adhesion properties in natural landscapes.

Zhengtao Zhu

Dr. Zhu's teaching at South Dakota Mines serves the needs of our students in a professional and compassionate way. His current research projects include flexible/wearable electronic devices and sensors for human health monitoring, nanomaterials/device physics of dye-sensitized solar cells, and 3D soft materials for environmental remediation.
