Mines President Hosts Ride as Fundraiser for Scholarships
Mines President Jim Rankin, Ph.D., along with his spouse, Wendy Rankin, Ph.D., will host the 2nd annual South Dakota Mines President’s Ride Scholarship Fundraiser on July 10.

The 2nd annual South Dakota Mines President's Ride Scholarship Fundraiser is planned for Saturday, July 10, 2021. Mines President Jim Rankin hosts the event and will lead a ride through the Northern Black Hills including travel through the scenic Vanocker Canyon, lunch in Sturgis at the Loud American Roadhouse, and an afternoon return to Rapid City via Highway 385 through Deadwood. A map of the route is here. Those who wish to learn more register for the event can do so here.

“We hope this is a fun way for the community to support future scientists and engineers at Mines. Our graduates make huge contributions to our economy and society as they advance the frontier of innovation and we know that a scholarship can make a real difference for a young person working to complete their degree,” says Mines President Jim Rankin.

Both motorcycles and cars are welcome. Event check in begins at 9 a.m. at Canyon Lake's Jackson Boulevard parking lot with a 10 a.m. departure time. Rider registration, which includes t-shirt and lunch, is $75 per person and the deadline to register is June 25.

The ride is being held in conjunction with the 2021 reunion at Mines to encourage university alumni to attend.
