Over 200 Companies to Attend South Dakota Mines Fall Career Fair
South Dakota Mines is hosting its Fall Career Fair with 219 companies scheduled to participate. The in-person fair is set for 11 a.m.-4 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 26, 2023, in the King Center on campus.
“The career fairs at South Dakota Mines are proof that our graduates are in high demand. They are regularly the largest in the region, and we are proud so many companies come here to visit with our students,” says President Jim Rankin, Ph.D., P.E.
Employers at the Fall 2023 Career Fair include Nucor, Omnitech, Garmin, GE, Kiewit and Hormel. Of the 219 companies represented, 51 are from South Dakota with 18 of those from the Black Hills.
Students who graduate from South Dakota Mines are highly sought after. Graduates from 2022 had a placement rate of 98% in either industry or graduate school with an average starting salary of $70,036. Seventy-three percent of university students participate in at least one paid internship before graduation, earning an average of $22.62 per hour. Students who participate in an internship have an average starting salary of $72,458 and 100% placement rate.
