South Dakota Mines Music Department Performs Annual Holiday Concert at the Cathedral
The halls of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Cathedral will once again be filled with the beautiful sounds of South Dakota Mines students as they present the 42nd Holiday Cathedral Concert.
“That Night of Wondrous Joy” concert will be held Saturday, Dec. 7 at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, Dec. 8 at 2:30 p.m. and feature the Mines music groups including the University Choir, Concert Choir, Singing Engineers, Hardrockapella Jazz, String Theory and Low Brass Choir. The ensembles are under the direction of Drs. Gerrit Scheepers and Haley Armstrong, Tammy Schnittgrund and Emma Jundt.
“This concert promises to be a wonderful experience and a perfect way to get everyone in the festive mood,” Scheepers said.
The Cathedral is a beautiful space to celebrate the spirit and the sounds of the season; the acoustics provided by the large ceiling and high walls exemplify the beautiful singing of the students.
The concert is free and open to the public, but donations are accepted to support scholarships for Mines students participating in music.
