Dr. Leila Sorkhi received her PhD in Materials Engineering and Science from South Dakota Mines in 2021. Her research focused on the study of microstructure, mechanical behavior and corrosion behavior of WE43 magnesium fabricated using laser powder directed deposition, an additive manufacturing technique. After completing her PhD, Dr. Sorkhi joined the Arbegast Advanced Materials Processing and Joining Laboratory as a Research Scientist I. Her research interests include additive manufacturing and cold spray deposition of various metallic coatings and the study of microstructure and corrosion behavior of these coatings.
