Brief Bio
Dr. Sinha joined South Dakota Mines as a Fermentation Scientist and was initially involved in establishing the CNAM-Bio Center’s pilot scale bioprocessing facility at the CAPE Lab. He is now responsible for the operations of this user facility and conducts bioprocessing scale-up R&D for a diverse range of bioproduct applications. As a doctoral research fellow in Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati, he majored in setting up pilot scale biocrude oil production facility for ONGC, Govt. of India. Dr. Sinha also worked as a postdoctoral research associate for DBT Pan IIT Center for Bioenergy. With 9 years of experience in the field of bioprocess engineering he holds two patents and published several research articles.
Research Expertise
Dr. Sinha has extensive experience in multi-step bioprocess development from the lab scale (1-10 L) to large scale bioreactors (50-1000 L), as well as open raceway ponds (0.5-2 KL). Dr. Sinha’s projects included developing and implementing process engineering strategies for high cell density microbial cultivation for production of bioactives, enzymes and antibiotics, kinetics and scale up studies and hydrothermal liquefaction. He has also worked and published on the design and operation of different large-scale bioreactors.
