Breif Bio
Dr. Mathews received her Master of Public Health (MPH) and Ph.D. in Epidemiology from the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston. She specializes in the study of infectious diseases and has worked in the fields of microbiology, immunology, molecular biology, vector-borne diseases, and public health. She joined South Dakota Mines in 2020 having previously served as faculty with the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley. Dr. Mathews currently serves as the primary academic advisor for the Pre-Professional Health Sciences major.
Research Expertise
Disease surveillance, vector-borne disease, interactions of infectious and chronic disease, maternal and child health.
