Brief Bio
Dr. Jue Hu has been an Assistant Professor in the Department of Nanoscience and Biomedical Engineering at the South Dakota School of Mines and Technology (South Dakota Mines) since August 2024. Prior to joining South Dakota Mines, she was a postdoctoral research fellow in Dr. Hongli Sun's group at the University of Iowa. Dr. Hu earned her Ph.D. in Textile Biomaterials and Technology from Donghua University in Shanghai, China, in 2017. From 2014 to 2016, she was a Joint Ph.D. student in the Department of Engineering at the National University of Singapore, working at the Center for Nanoscience and Nanotechnology. Before her postdoctoral work, Dr. Hu served as a lecturer at Hunan University of Technology in Zhuzhou, Hunan, China.
Research Expertise
Dr. Hu’s research interests include using innovative biomaterials, tissue engineering, and stem cell techniques to better understand cell-cell and cell-matrix interactions for tissue regeneration. Design innovative bio-inspired nanofibrous/porous scaffolds/hydrogel and drug/gene delivery technologies to promote stem cell differentiation and modulate inflammation.
Research specialties: biomimetic nanomaterials, cell-matrix and cell-cell interaction, stem cell differentiation, inflammation modulation, extracellular vesicles, and tissue regeneration.
Dr. Hu is actively seeking both undergraduate and graduate students to join her new lab and explore the emerging challenges in biomedical research.
