Brief Bio

I received my Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering and Master's degree in Measurement & Control Engineering from Idaho State University in 2002 and 2005 respectively under the supervision of Dr. Subbaram Naidu. I received the Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering from Colorado State University in 2009 under the supervision of Dr. Anthony A. Maciejewski. I spent from 2009 - 2010 with the department of Mathematics and Computer Science at SD Mines. From 2010 - 2018 I was with the department of Electrical Engineering at SD Mines. In 2018 I helped with the merger of Computer Engineering and Computer Science to form the department of Computer Science and Engineering. I am currently an Associate Professor within the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at SD Mines where I direct the Mines Machine Learning and Intelligent Systems Lab (MMLIS - L) within the CSE department.

Research Expertise

My research interests began with dynamic systems and controls and has since morphed to many different aspects of intelligent systems work. More recently my focus has been on multilinear systems theory, multilinear forecasting methods, and multilinear subspace learning. My focus is on developing methods for understanding the structure of data in high dimensions, dimensionality reduction, and model development for accurate prediction. Most recently I am working at the intersection of multilinear modeling, dynamic graph theory, multigraph analysis and modeling, and time-series forecasting.

Teaching

I have taught a wide array of courses within Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, and Computer Science ranging from signal processing, dynamic systems, embedded systems, and programming. For a full list of courses, please refer to my CV.
