Activities and Organizations
Students learn in myriad ways, from classroom lectures and coursework to hands-on research and projects. They also learn by participating in activities and opportunities that bring added dimensions to their academic years.
Just as professionals join organizations and seek outside training to increase their knowledge and contacts, geology and geological engineering students are encouraged to involve themselves in organizations and networking to bring a social aspect to their
academic endeavors. A variety of
geoscience-related student organizations are active on campus and each semester
there are also a number of
seminars, workshops and meetings
offered. Students can also widen their horizons and gain valuable experience by participating in department field trips.
We feel fortunate that many of our students stay interested in department activities even after they move on to jobs and careers. We keep them up-to-date through our
alumni newsletters.
