Student Employment

The South Dakota Mines ITS department offers employment opportunities for students to develop professional-level skills, learn to work in a team-based environment and to be fairly compensated while a full-time student.

Most student employees are assigned to work at the ITS Help Desk where they provide primary support for students and the Student Laptop Program. Other opportunities exist in our networking "LAN Crew" and in classroom/conferencing support. This is a customer service focused position where you will learn the foundations of IT work in computer troubleshooting and repair. After gaining some initial experience, some employees may be called to assist other areas including faculty/staff computers or the networking team.

In order to qualify for employment with ITS, you must meet certain qualification standards established by the Student Technology Fellow Program (STF). While the STF program requires applicants to be South Dakota residents, we do hire non-SD residents as well. The eligibility requirements are the same and listed below.
