Parks and Tech
Society simultaneously shapes, and is shaped by, technology. This type of thinking
focuses on problem-solving and requires an understanding of how social and technical
aspects of issues are interconnected. Teams of students will practice this sociotechnical
thinking by researching and designing a park/playground. They will have access to
the Makerspace on campus, which has 3D printers, a laser engraver, and other tools/materials
to create a model of their park. On the last day of camp, the teams will present their
park to each other and a panel of judges who will award a prize to the team who best
demonstrates sociotechnical thinking.
